The Medical Mission Team 2015
|
The Medical Mission Team will be in the Philippines on May 23 to June 8, 2015 in Baguio City Philippines. The team members will be yours truly, Michael and Lannie Armstrong, Teresa Guillory, Trevor Plumley, Faith Leake, Laura Splitter, Tony and Cristeta Gatdula, who is not in the picture.
Baguio City is a home of about 300, 000 people located in the province of Benguet in northern Luzon island of the Philippines. It is known as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines" because it has become the Filipinos favorite escape from the lowland heat during summer. The name of the city is derived from the Ibaloi word "bagiw" meaning "moss." The "Ibaloi" is the indigenous language in the Benguet Region. The city is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,540 meters (5,050 feet) in the Luzon tropical pine forests eco-region conducive for the growth of mossy plants and orchids.
Baguio City is about
269 kilometers from Manila, which is the capital city of Manila. There are two known routes to get there and it would take about 5 to 7 hours to get there from Manila.
The first time I visited Baguio City was in December 2011 and I was with my former co-teachers. We joined a fun run, visited Burnham Park, Mines View Park, the Mansion and the mall. I loved every part of my experience there especially the hospitality and honesty of the taxi drivers.
