In His Service

We are about six weeks away from our departure to the Philippines where we will work with the local church there to further the gospel of Jesus Christ through medical missions. There is much planning and preparation going on now with the team to be sure that we are offering our very best to the Lord. It is a great privilege to be able to join in on the Lord's mission to set the captives free from the bondage of sin and even false religion like He has done for us.
The majority of Christians in America will never be able to travel to distant lands and minister to people who need the gospel. However, there is some things that every Christian can do. The first thing is that every Christian can pray. Don't underestimate the role of prayer in missions. Missions and prayer are inseparable. The more we pray, the more deeply we understand the importance and need for prayer in our daily lives and in the furtherance of ministry for the Lord. Prayer is crucial to the success of any ministry endeavor, including missions.

Another thing that every Christian can do is give. If you belong to a local church, you know that giving is what allows the church to continue functioning and providing ministry opportunities to grow and equip believers for service. The same is true for missions. Without the financial support, missions is hindered.

Dr. Charles Ryrie said this about giving:

“How we use our money demonstrates the reality of our love for God. In some ways it proves our love more conclusively than depth of knowledge, length of prayers, or prominence of service. These things can be feigned, but the use of our possessions shows us up for what we actually are.”

Believe me, I know that times can be tough financially. We've been there and often continue to have to make sacrifices in certain areas of finance in order to take care of our obligations. We invest a lot of our savings in missions each year because we care deeply about missions and we see such a great need specifically in the Philippines. People need the Lord and the reality is that the resources we have here just aren't available in most places around the world. We take so much for granted.

So, I say all that to ask you to consider support this mission as God calls each of us to fill in the gap to spread the gospel around the world. I'm asking you to pray and consider if this mission is something you are interested in partnering with us in.

“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

The very best investment a person can make is an investment in the kingdom of God. “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
